SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA – – Investigator Paul Holes endorsed Anne Marie Schubert for reelection in her race for the District Attorney’s Office. Paul Holes was the investigator from the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office who played a critical role in identifying the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer.

“I’m proud to endorse Anne Marie Schubert as District Attorney,” said Paul. “I’ve known her for 18 years – working together on the EAR/GSK. Her knowledge, passion and persistence on this case has been extraordinary. Her leadership on creating a task force and dedicating resources was instrumental in leading to the arrest of Joseph DeAngelo Jr.”

In 2016, the FBI and Sacramento Sheriff’s Department held a press conference with several law enforcement agencies marking the 40th anniversary of the first assault and seeking the public’s help. After this press conference, Schubert organized a statewide task force and dedicated critical resources that led to identification and arrest of the EAR/GSK.

Paul Holes worked with the task force force using genealogy as a means to identify the suspect. Holes spent decades on the case with his work going back as far as 1994.

Schubert has 28 years of experience working in law enforcement and is nationally recognized as an expert in DNA and cold case prosecution.

The election for Sacramento District Attorney will be held on June 5, 2018.
